City Council Special Meeting January 3, 2023 Reorganizational Meeting of the Suffolk City Council was held in the City Council Chamber on Monday, January 3, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. PRESENT Council Members - Michael D. Duman, Mayor, presiding Leroy Bennett Shelley Butler Barlow Roger W. Fawcett Timothy J. Johnson John T. Rector Lue R. Ward, Jr. LeOtis L. Williams Albert S. Moor, City Manager William E. Hutchings, Jr., City Attorney Erika S. Dawley, City Clerk ABSENT None CALL TO ORDER Mayor Duman called the meeting to order. ELECTION OF THE VICE MAYOR Mayor Duman opened the floor for nominations for the position of Vice Mayor. Council Member Williams, on a motion seconded by Council Member Rector, moved to nominate and appoint Lue R. Ward, Jr. to the position of Vice Mayor, by the following roll call vote: AYES: Mayor Duman, and Council Members Fawcett, Rector, Ward and Williams 5 NAYS: Council Members Bennett, Butler Barlow and Johnson 3 Lue R. Ward, Jr., was appointed the Vice Mayor of the City of Suffolk, for a term beginning January 3, 2023, and ending December 31, 2024. ADJOURNMENT Council Member Fawcett, on a motion seconded by Council Member Williams, moved to adjourn, by the following roll call vote: AYES: Mayor Duman, and Council Members Bennett, Butler Barlow, Fawcett, T.
