Carson Weinand, 109 West 27th Street, New York, New York, CVE North America, agent, representing Indian Trail Solar, LLC, property owner, spoke in support of the proposed ordinance, with conditions, as presented. Mayor Duman opined about the potential drainage impact on adjacent properties, as it relates to the parcel under consideration. Senior Planner Colyer explained that these matters would be addressed during the site plan review process. NEW BUSINESS There were no items under this portion of the agenda. 5 City Council Regular Meeting May 17, 2023 ANNOUNCEMENTS AND COMMENTS Utilizing a PowerPoint presentation, Media and Community Relations Director Jennifer Moore provided a report on the following: the appointment of Denise Smith as the Human Resources Department Assistant Director; a recent bill signing by Governor Glenn Youngkin; the Bennett’s Creek Recreation Center Ribbon Cutting Ceremony; the activation of the School Zone Traffic Enforcement Cameras; the Public Works Citizen Academy Graduation; detours for the Turlington Road Culvert Pipe Rehabilitation project; the Commonwealth’s Attorney Office Crime Scene Investigation/Forensics Camp; the Suffolk Tax Relief Seminar; Bike to Work Day Lunchtime Ride; Open Interviews with the Parks and Recreation Department; the Born Learning Trail Ribbon Cutting; the Suffolk Police Department Senior Citizens Academy and the Suffolk State of the City. Council Member Bennett acknowledged the appointment of Denise Smith as the Human Resources Department Assistant Director. Council Member Johnson announced he attended the Suffolk Police Department’s Peace Officer Memorial Day observance. Council Member Johnson opined about the 2023 Suffolk State of the City. Council Member Johnson opined about the Zoe Life Ministries’ First Annual STEAM Fun the Sun event. Council Member Johnson announced the 95th Anniversary of the Ruritans, International. Council Member Rector reported he attended the following: the Suffolk Police Department’s Peace Officer Memorial Day observance; the Kingsboro Civic League Meeting; the Born Learning Trail Ribbon Cutting; Downtown Suffolk Rotary Club Meeting; Public Service Appreciation Week event; Downtown Suffolk Social; Masters of Soul Concert and Pilot Club International Civic Night Awards Ceremony. Council Member Williams opined about the Suffolk State of the City. Council Member Williams announced he reported that he participated in the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce Leadership Exchange.
