Planning and Community Development Wyne replied in the affirmative. Referring to the presentation, Vice Mayor Ward called for information about the number of beds in the proposed facility. Planning and Community Development Wyne reported that there will be 24 beds in the proposed facility. Council Member Rector encouraged residents to attend Suffolk Peanut Fest. Council Member Rector said he participated in the Skydive Suffolk jump. Council Member Rector announced he attended the Virginia Municipal League Annual Conference. Council Member Rector opined about the observance of National Community Planning Month. Council Member Rector reported he attended the ribbon cutting for Danny’s Hot Dogs and the Public Works’ Department Clean the River event. Council Member Rector opined about the Virginia Main Street Program and the City’s purchase of the former SunTrust Building. Council Member Rector announced he attended the Hampton Roads Workforce Council meeting. Council Member Williams reported that he attended the Virginia Municipal League Annual Conference. Council Member Williams opined about various infrastructural issues. Council Member Fawcett encouraged residents to attend the September 11th Tunnel to Towers Procession, the Suffolk Peanut Fest and the Shrimp Feast. Council Member Fawcett announced he toured a solar farm on White Marsh Road. Council Member Fawcett reported that he attended the Virginia Municipal League Annual Conference. Council Member Fawcett opined about the City’s purchase of the former SunTrust Building and the Virginia Main Street Program. Council Member Butler Barlow encouraged residents to attend the Suffolk Peanut Fest. Council Member Butler Barlow opined about cotton harvest season. Council Member Butler Barlow commented on the observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Council Member Butler Barlow announced the selection of Andrea Davis, the new Unit Director at the Suffolk Agriculture Extension Office. Council Member Bennett reported he attended the Terreva Renewables Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. 6 City Council Regular Meeting October 18, 2023 Council Member Bennett opined about today’s Work Session presentation about housing opportunities. Council Member Bennett opined about the upcoming Suffolk Police Badge Pinning Ceremony. Council Member Johnson announced he toured a solar farm on White Marsh Road. Council Member Johnson opined about the Virginia Main Street Program and the observance of National Community Planning Month. Vice Mayor Ward reported he attended the funeral for the late Anthony Parker and the Virginia Municipal League Annual Conference. Vice Mayor Ward encouraged residents to attend the Suffolk Peanut Fest. Mayor Duman stated that he attended the ATTAIN Apartments Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. Mayor Duman encouraged residents to attend the Suffolk Peanut Fest. Mayor Duman announced he attended the ribbon cutting for Danny’s Hot Dogs. Mayor Duman opined about the City’s purchase of the former SunTrust Building. Mayor Duman reported that he attended the following: Lakeland High School’s reading event; the Children’s Center ribbon cutting and the Smart Growth Suffolk Faith and Community roundtable and a tour of a solar farm on White Marsh Road. Mayor Duman opined about a recent article in the Suffolk News-Herald regarding a Suffolk Board meeting.
