ATTENDEES: Chairman Brent Rowlands, Vice-Chairman Edward Roettger, Secretary Isaac Baker, Election Officer Consultant Les Ward, General Registrar Burdette Lawrence, Clerk of Court Randy Carter, citizens Joseph Ramsey, Jr., Jim Oaks, Karen Cassell, Harry Cassell, Jr., Johnnie Edwards, Robin Holton, Karen Hurd, and two attendees whose names were written illegibly. PREVIOUS MINUTES: Chairman Rowlands moved that the minutes of August 22, 2022 be approved as distributed. Upon an appropriate second by Secretary Baker, the motion passed unanimously. PUBLIC COMMENTS AND RESPONSES: A concern was raised by Robin Holton that sample ballots being passed out at previous elections were misleading. Chairman Rowlands moved that a copy of §24.2-622 be sent to each party chairman as a reminder of the requirements for sample ballots. A request to keep 2020 election material in an electronic CVR format was made by Karen Hurd. Mr. Randy Carter questioned whether the information could be requested under FOIA and pointed out that election materials were kept according to the Virginia Retention Law and the timeframe for 2020 election information requests had passed. Chairman Rowlands moved that the request from Ms. Hurd be sent to our attorney for clarity and direction on how to properly proceed. Upon an appropriate second by Vice-Chairman Roettger, the motion passed unanimously. ADJOURNMENT: There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 10:08 a. m.
