Vice-Chairman Brent Rowlands was absent. Chairman Oaks called the meeting to order on Tuesday, March I ,2023 at the Voter Registration Office located at 440 Market Street, Suffolk, Virginia at 9:01 a.m. FIRST ORDER OF BUSINESS: Chairman Oaks read the minutes of the February 7,2023 board meeting then motioned to approve the minutes as written. Secretary Baker seconded the motion. The minutes were approved with a unanimous vote ofyes. OLD BUSINESS: 2022 November General Election incident report issues were compiled then properly explained to the public by Chairman Oaks. Explanations were also given regarding actions taken in each incident. The General Registrar reported that the election official reappointment letters were sent out and 50o/o of the officials had responded to date. The relocation of the Airporl ballot drop-box was in process and the General Registrar reporled that the cameras covering the drop-box would be moved before the end of April. NEW BUSINESS: Chairman Oaks read a statement regarding a voter fraud allegation. The allegation was brought to the attention of the General Registrar who turned it over to the Suffolk FBI Division. The public was directed in the statement to address all inquiries regarding the matter to the FBI Division of the Suffolk Police Department. Vice-Mayor Lue Ward made a comment about informing the Electoral Board about the conduct of the election officials at the polls. Chairman Oaks assured him when incidents are reported to the office or E,lectoral Board, they are investigated or handled immediately.
