CITY OF SUFFOLK ELECTORAL BOARD MEETING
NOVEMBER 7-13,2023
NOVEMBER 7th MEETING ATTENDEES: Lester Ward, Acting Chairman,
Brent Rowlands, and Vice-Chairman, lsaac Baker Secretary,
The Suffolk Electoral Board met November 7,2023 at Decoy's Restaurant located
at 3305 Ferry Road, Suffolk around 12:00 p.m. Attendees were Les Ward Acting
Chairman, Brent Rowlands Vice-Chairman, and Isaac Baker Secretary. The
meeting was called to order and Election Day precinct conditions were discussed.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned around 2:00 p.m.
NOVEMBER 8-13 MEETING ATTENDEES: Lester Ward, Acting Chairman,
Brent Rowlands Vice-Chairman, Isaac Baker Secretary, Burdette Lawrence
General Registrar, Stephen Trent Republican Party Chairman.
November 8,2023: The Suffolk Electoral Board met for the purpose of
conducting the Canvass pursuant to the General Election of November 7,2023 at
the Voter Registration Office located at 440 Market Street, Suffolk and was called
to order by Acting Chairman Les Ward at 9:05 a.m.
At9i2l a.m., Secretary Baker moved that the Board convene in closed session to
discuss and determine qualification of voters who submitted provisional ballots
pursuant to the exemption in the Code of Virginia $2.2-3711 . Upon appropriate
second, the motion carried. The Board convened in closed session at 9:21 a.m.
The Board adjoumed at 4:30 p.m. remaining in closed session.
NOVEMBER 9,2023:.
The Board convened at 9:07 a.m. to resume closed session review of qualif,rcation
of voters who cast provisional ballots and to review Election Day results submitted
by the precinct. The meeting was adjoumed at 4:30 p.m.
NOVEMBER 10,2023: Veteran's Day Holiday
NOVEMBER 13,20232
The Board convened at 12:15 p.m. in closed session to review qualifications of
voters who cast I. D. Provisional ballots. There were none to review. Secretary
Baker certified that while in closed session, the Board discussed only qualifications
of provisional voters as designated in the Code of Virginia 52.2-3711. Provisional
Ballots determined to be cast by qualified voters were submitted for counting in the
General Election.
The rneeting was adjourned at 3:45 p.m. The next board meeting will be held
January 9,2024 at 9:00 a.m.
