SUFFOLK LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD MEETING MINUTES October 14, 2014 Board Members Present: Others Present: Mrs. Judith Stone, President Mr. Clint S. Rudy, Director of Libraries Mrs. Sue Nichols, Vice-President Ms. Carolyn Phelps, Exec. Secretary Ms. Barbara Banze Mr. Sean Bilby Board Members Absent: Mrs. Nancy Creekmore Mr. Lee Cross Mrs. Pam Hill Mrs. Ernestine Langston  The meeting was called to order at 2:05PM by Mrs. Judith Stone, President.  Mr. Bilby made a motion to accept the minutes of the July 8, 2014 meeting. Mrs. Nichols seconded the motion.  Mr. Rudy noted that the Suffolk Public Library had received its annual grant from the State Library in the amount of $156,559.  Mr. Rudy reported that the Library participated in the Peanut Fest Parade and also participated by having a booth in the City Tent during Peanut Fest.  The position of Assistant Director has been posted.  Morgan Library will be closed December 3 through December 6 for reorganization of the building. During the closing the bookmobile will remain on site to assist patrons.  Mrs. Stone suggested using high school students to assist during this reorganization project.  The library is working with the Literacy Council on a brochure for publication to market our services that we offer.  The Health and Human Relations Standing Committee meeting for October 7th was cancelled.  The Library is partnering with the Suffolk Art League and the other area six city libraries for “7 Cities 1 Book” event (Fahrenheit 451) for April/May 2015 to coincide with National Library Week.  The Library is partnering with the Suffolk Division of Tourism and the Cultural Arts Center for a Mystery Author’s Festival.  The next meeting will be January 13, 2015 at 2PM in the Morgan Memorial Library Meeting Room.  With no further business the meeting was adjourned at 2:45PM.
