SUFFOLK LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD Meeting Minutes October 13, 2015 Board Members Present: Others Present: Mrs. Judith Stone, President Mr. Clint S. Secretary Mrs. Nancy Creekmore Mrs. Sarah Townsend, Assistant Mr. Lee Cross Director Of Libraries Mrs. Sharon Slate Board Members Absent: Ms. Barbara Banze Mrs. Ernestine Langston Mrs. Sue Nichols  The meeting was called to order at 2:06PM by Mrs. Judith Stone, President.  Mr. Bilby made a motion to accept the meeting minutes of the July 14, 2015 meeting. Mrs. Creekmore seconded the motion, and the minutes were approved by a unanimous vote of 5-0.  There were no new communications.  The Library has received donations totaling $10,000 from the Friends of the Suffolk Library.  The Suffolk Library Advisory Board received a copy of the Library’s Organization Chart, the Library’s FALL Classes & Events calendar, and a copy of the Strategic Plan that was approved at the July 14, 2015 Suffolk Library Advisory Board meeting.  Mr. Rudy reported that the Library is partnering with the Literacy Council to try to expand outreach and to work on more grant opportunities.  The Health and Human Services Meeting scheduled for today was canceled.  Public Relations were discussed. We need to connect with the community and inform all citizens about the programs we offer. Some ideas for our marketing plan included school newsletters and websites, churches, local mom’s groups, homeschool groups, Facebook, and Twitter. The new Marketing and Community Relations Coordinator, Terri Boone, will present additional information at the January meeting.  The Technology Use Policy has been updated. Mr. Cross made a motion to accept the updated policy. Mr. Bilby seconded the motion, and the updated Technology Use Policy was approved by a unanimous vote of 5-0.  Mr. Bilby made a motion to accept the 2016 Suffolk Library Advisory Board meeting dates. Mrs. Creekmore seconded the motion and the 2016 meeting dates were approved by a unanimous vote of 5-0.  Mrs. Sarah Townsend presented to the Library Advisory Board a Power Point Presentation on the overview of our Library organization that is part of our orientation process for new employees.  The next meeting will be Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at 2PM in the Morgan Memorial Library Meeting Room.  With no further business the meeting was adjourned at 3:45PM.
