SUFFOLK LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD Meeting Minutes January 12, 2016 Board Members Present: Others Present: Mrs. Judith Stone, President Mr. Clint S. Secretary Mr. Sean Bilby Ms. Terri Boone, Marketing and Mrs. Nancy Creekmore Community Relations Coordinator Mrs. Ernestine Langston Mrs. Sharon Slate • The meeting was called to order at 2:10PM by Mrs. Judith Stone, President. • Ms. Banze made a motion to accept the meeting minutes of the October 13, 2015 meeting. Mrs. Creekmore seconded the motion and the minutes were approved. • The Office of General Registrar & Electoral Board has notified the library that the City of Suffolk will be conducting an election on March 1, 2016 in the Library’s meeting room. • Mr. Rudy reported that conditional offers were made to a new Marketing and Community Relations Coordinator and Youth & Family Services Manager. • Mr. Rudy suggested that he will send emails to Library Board members between meetings for Library information and updates. • Mrs. Langston and Mr. Rudy reported on the Literacy Council. The Literacy Council met Tuesday, January 5th. Donations are still accepted. Grants were discussed and The Literacy Council will partner with other agencies for region wide 757 Gives fundraising event in May. • Mrs. Stone and Mr. Rudy attended the Health and Human Relations Standing Committee Meeting today. He noted that Parks and Rec are preparing final stages of the Masterplan and will present to City Council. • Mr. Rudy noted that the CIP will be presented to the Planning Commission next Tuesday. • Ms. Terri Boone, Marketing and Community Relations Coordinator, gave a presentation on Marketing the Library. • The next meeting will be April 12, 2016 at 2PM in the Morgan Memorial Library Meeting Room. • With no further business the meeting was adjourned at 3:20PM.
