Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee Meeting July 15, 2020 9:00 a.m. - Zoom Meeting Attendees: Members: Rick Reiff, Kelley Johnson, Mike Peebles, John Mott, John Pardee, Ned Shows, Sandy O’Keefe, Visitors: Bonnie Miley, Town of Summerville, Karen Fairchild, Town of Summerville The minutes from the May 13 2020 meeting were approved. Public Comment John Mott referred to the SMB extension and some public property near to the Summerville Country Club (Miler). He noted that if you use Lucretia Lane there could be a good access point. Old Business Rick updated the BPAC 2020 Improvement Priority List. The committee overviewed the last few adjustments. Bonnie noted that new sidewalks were already approved near the Gum Street Post office, so that could be removed from our list. Kelley motioned to approve the Priority List and Mike seconded the motion. Motion passed. It was noted that the Planning Commission would meet on July 20th. Rick volunteered to attend the meeting and present our list. Sandy gave an overview of some of the recent activities of the Bike/Walk Summerville group. The group went on a group fact-finding ride along the SMB trail with the Parks Director from the Town and from Dorchester County, to discuss possible enhancements and improvements. Any improvements would begin in the Oakbrook area due to the planned closing of the SMB trail during construction of the parkway. The committee further discussed future Oakbrook projects, as well as the traffic-calming efforts made by the Town on Sumter Avenue. The next regular meeting of the BPAC will be on Wednesday, Sept. 16th at 9:00 a.m. Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 10:45 a.m. Respectfully submitted by Kelley Johnson
