Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee Meeting September 16, 2020 Zoom meeting 9:00 a.m. Attendees: Members: John Pardee, John Mott, Ned Shows, Rick Reiff, Sandy O’Keefe, Mike Peebles Visitors: Bonnie Miley, Town of Summerville Call to Order: John Pardee called the meeting to order at 9:02 a.m. I. Public Comment none II. Acceptance of Minutes: Minutes from the July 2020 meeting were approved. III. New Business: Ned brought up a potential safety issue of pedestrians who were crossing Main Street downtown between Doty Avenue and Richardson Avenue and the potential need for a midblock crosswalk across Main Street. He mentioned that sidewalks in Hutchinson Square lead right to Main Street with nowhere to cross. It was discussed that the Hutchinson Square plans originally called for a midblock crossing, but that SCDOT would not allow it. They did allow the RRFB flashing signals at Doty Avenue and there are pedestrian signals at the Richardson Avenue signal. IV. Old Business: Rick discussed that the BPAC priority list presentation to the Planning Commission went well. Planning Commission agreed with the recommendations. Rick discussed that we could develop individual project worksheets for the BPAC projects which could include aerials and the Strava heatmap data. This could be beneficial for future presentations to Planning Commission and/or Council. John M. agreed to pull the Strava heatmap data for the projects, and Rick will work to put the worksheets together. > John M. brought up the draft Summerville Comprehensive Plan, and specifically the action matrix. The rest of the committee was not familiar with the plan and is was agreed for everyone to review in advance of the November meeting. (It appears that it was adopted on October 8, 2020). V.
