Adjourn  ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 6 – BUILDING AND BUILDING REGULATIONS; ARTICLE II; DIVISION2. – CONSTRUCTION AND CODE BOARD OF ADJUSTMENTS AND APPEALS; SECTION 6-61 TO ALLOW, IN ADDITION TO CITIZENS, THOSE INDIVIDUALS WHO OWN A BUSINESS AND/OR REAL PROPERTY OR INDIVIDUALS WITH A UNANIMOUS VOTE OF COUNCIL, TO SERVE AS A MEMBER OF THE CONSTRUCTION AND CODE BOARD OF ADJUSTMENTS AND APPEALS. WHEREAS, Section 6-61- of the Code of Ordinances of the Town of Summerville permits only citizens of the Town to serve on the Construction and Code Board of Adjustments and Appeals (CCBAA), and WHEREAS, it has been difficult, if not impossible, to find qualified individuals willing to serve from this limited pool, and WHEREAS, individuals who meet the qualifications to serve on the CCBAA but for not being a citizen of the Town, have expressed an interest in serving, and WHEREAS, it is the desire of Town Council to expand the pool from which qualified candidates may be selected in order to fill the vacant seats on the CCBAA. NOW THEREFORE, be it Ordained by the Mayor and Members of Town Council duly assembled; 1. The above introduction and recitals are hereby incorporated into this Ordinance to the same extent as if set out verbatim. 2. Chapter 6; Article II, Division 2; Section 6-61 is hereby amended so that it will hereafter read: There is hereby established a board to be called the Construction and Code Board of Adjustments and Appeals. The board shall be appointed by the governing body. Such board members shall be citizens of the town, individuals who own a business and/or a business or individuals with a unanimous vote of Council with knowledge and experience in technical codes. The board shall adopt rules of procedure for conducting its business.
