CALL TO ORDER
Vice Chair Filley called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Vice Chair Filley led the salute to the United States flag.

ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
Councilmember Mehlinger encouraged the Commission to explore
performing/literary/interactive arts within their scope.
CONSENT CALENDAR
Commissioner Eskridge moved and Commissioner Kauffman seconded the motion
to approve the consent calendar as submitted.
The motion carried by the following vote:

1 24-0419 Approve the Arts Commission Meeting Minutes of February
21, 2024
PUBLIC HEARINGS/GENERAL BUSINESS
2 24-0216 Recommend Council Approve Art in Private Development
Project - Hunter Properties/Cityline, titled Redwood Blue
(Phase 2, Artwork 3 of 4)
Kristin Dance, Recreation Services Coordinator, provided background on the
project and introduced Ellie Hunter, Art Advisor. Highlights included: past work,
proposed artwork, lighting and location.
Commissioners asked questions regarding how the artwork was selected, if the
artist will use recycled materials, when the artwork would be lit, and if there was no
base proposed on purpose.
Commissioner Kauffman motioned and Vice Chair Filley seconded the motion for
Alternative 1: Recommend Council Approve Art in Private Development Project -
Hunter Properties/Cityline, titled Redwood Blue (Phase 2, Artwork 3 of 4).
The motion carried with the following vote:
Vice Chair Filley did not see the relevance between the proposed artwork and the
Cityline location in Sunnyvale.

3 24-0486 Approve Art in Private Development Project - Google/555 W.
Java Dr., titled Murmurs from Infinity
Shandra Cerrito, Art Advisor, provided background on the project and introduced
Catherine Widgery, Artist. Highlights included: location, inspiration, and proposed
artwork.
Commissioners asked questions regarding the mesh, if the artwork would have a
plaque explaining the inspiration, and if the artist would use recycled materials.

Commissioner Kauffman motioned and Commissioner Lam seconded the motion
for Alternative 1: Approve Art in Private Development Project - Google/555 W. Java
Dr., titled Murmurs from Infinity as proposed.
The motion was carried with the following vote:

4 24-0418 Hands on the Arts Festival (Finalize Project and Plans)
Kristin Dance provided the Commission with Hands on the Arts project ideas.
Commissioner Kauffman moved and Vice Chair Filley seconded the motion to
select the mixed media, group mural incorporating the new Sunnyvale icon.
The motion carried with the following vote:

Minimum Percentage of Recycled Materials
Commissioner Lam provided background on her proposed study issue.
Commissioner Eskridge sponsored the study issue.
