CALL TO ORDER
Chair Veith called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. in the Bay Conference Room
(135).

2024
Approve the Arts Commission Minutes of March 20, 2024 as submitted.
PUBLIC HEARINGS/GENERAL BUSINESS
Presentation showcased five utility box renderings. These designs were created by
students from Wilcox High School and The Kings Academy. Michelle We from
Wilcox High School presented a postage-inspired design, while Alexandra Sasha
Sokolova presented a koi fish design. From The Kings Academy, Lilah Cubacub
presented a wildlife theme design, Anika Huang presented a bird-themed box, and
Anjie Xu presented a knight-themed box.
Commissioner Kauffman moved and Commissioner Lam seconded the motion to
approve Item 2.

STANDING ITEM: CONSIDERATION OF POTENTIAL STUDY ISSUES
3 24-0534 Celebrate Sunnyvale's Diverse Community
Chair Veith discussed National Arts and Humanities Month (NAHM) in October and
expressed a desire to enhance their arts celebration. She recommended
celebrating art on a monthly basis, aligning these celebrations with various heritage

Trenton HIll, Recreation Services Manager spoke about the progress for Hands on
the Arts Event happening in May.
Kristen Dance, Recreation Coordinator spoke about the installation of the art
exhibit program which were installed at the Library and Senior Center.
Council Liaison Klein spoke about Earth Day event at City Hall.

4 24-0533 Arts Commission Proposed Study Issues, Calendar Year:
2025
Michelle Perera, Director of Library & Recreation Services, addressed the
commission regarding the proposed study issue. She also provided an update on
the current events planned by the city of Sunnyvale for the remainder of the year.
Michelle clarified the distinction between a study issue and a budget proposal.
Chair Veith decided to table the topic and will collaborate with staff to further refine
the proposed study issue at a later date.
ADJOURNMENT
Chair Veith adjourned the meeting at 7:50 p.m.
