City of Sunnyvale Meeting Minutes - Final Arts Commission Wednesday, May 15, 2024 7:00 PM Online and Bay Conference Room, City Hall, 456 W. Olive Ave., Sunnyvale, CA 94086 Special Joint Meeting with the Parks and Recreation Commission and Board of Library Trustees. CALL TO ORDER Chair Veith called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. SALUTE TO THE FLAG Chair Veith led the salute to the United States flag. Highlights included: project overview, design update, parking, and sustainability. Chair Veith opened public comment. Ms. Johnson asked if we sought input from other libraries. Ms. Martin-Milius is in favor of the larger library and supports the increase in property tax. Chair Veith closed public comment. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS None. PUBLIC HEARINGS/GENERAL BUSINESS 1 24-0619 Review and Recommend Council Approve Recommended Budget Director of Finance, Tim Kirby, provided a presentation on the recommended budget. Highlights included: legal framework, community values, budget principles, budget workshop, budget summaries, city-wide revenues, reserve balances, and the recommended budget. Commissioner Lam moved and Chair Wang seconded the motion to Recommend Council Approve the Recommended Budget. The motion carried by the following vote: City of Sunnyvale Page 2 Arts Commission Meeting Minutes - Final May 15, 2024 Yes: 13 - Chair Veith Vice Chair Filley Commissioner Eskridge Commissioner Kauffman Commissioner Lam Kesting Giri Bremond Gattani Wang Juttukonda Chang Hu No: 0 Absent: 2 - Mason Jain NON-AGENDA ITEMS & COMMENTS -Commissioner Comments -Chair Wang encouraged commissioners, board members and the public to attend the May 21, 5 p.m. Council meeting, and show support for the new main library. -Chair Kesting spoke about being patient with some city services and advocating for things that are important to you. -Staff Comments -Superintendent of Libraries, Garrett Kuramoto spoke about Summer Reading at the library which starts on June 1, and new redesigned library website (SunnyvaleLibrary.org). -Mayor Klein thanked everyone for attending, and spoke about the Earth Day event, Council budget workshop, and the 4th of July drone show. -Executive Assistant, Ricky Le thanked everyone for attending Hands on the Arts.
