CALL TO ORDER
Chair Lai called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m.

CONSENT CALENDAR
1.A 19-0895 Approve the Board of Library Trustees Meeting Minutes of
October 7, 2019
Board Member Isaak moved, and Board Member Bremond seconded, approval of
the Board of Library Trustees minutes of October 7, 2019 as submitted. The motion
carried by the following vote:

PUBLIC HEARINGS/GENERAL BUSINESS
2 19-1190 Library Services for Students in Poverty
Librarian Raina Tuakoi provided information on the Library's outreach efforts, such
as: Outreach to low-income neighborhoods through grant funded programs;
Columbia Neighborhood Center and the Mayview Clinic; Women, Infant and
Children (WIC); and First Five.
Chair Lai opened the public hearing, and there being no public testimony, closed
the public hearing.
3 19-1199 Library Services for Disabled Users
Librarian Laurie Borchard provided information to the Board regarding Library
services being offered to disabled users, such as: ADA computers, print magnifiers,
Americans with Disabilites Act (ADA) compliant website and social media, keyboard
& mouse, ebooks, audiobooks, large print books, braille books, homebound
delivery, sensory story time, Library tours, and event accommodation. Librarian
Borchard also reviewed Library improvements, such as: adjustable desk & tables,
adaptive keyboard overlay, spelling and instructional software, screen reading
software, visable fire alarms and assisted listening devices.
Chair Lai opened the public hearing, and there being no public testimony, closed
the public hearing.
4 19-1166 Approve 2020 Master Work Plan
Board Member Isaak moved and Board Member Bremond seconded the motion to
approve the 2020 Master Work Plan as presented. The motion carried by the
following vote:

Appointed Officials
Superintendent Steve Sloan reviewed the 2019 Code of Ethics and Conduct for
Elected and Appointed Officials with the Board.
Chair Lai opened the public hearing, and there being no public testimony, closed
the public hearing.
STANDING ITEM: CONSIDERATION OF POTENTIAL STUDY ISSUES
None.
NON-AGENDA ITEMS & COMMENTS
-Board Member Comments
The Board requested a presentation on critical thinking and made comments about
the RepairCafe Library event.
-Staff Comments
Superintendent Steve Sloan provided the Board with an update on: New Director of
Library and Community Services, Cherise Brandell; drag queen storytime;
discontinuing Kanopy; eBook collection with Cloudlink; Diwali and Day of the Dead
celebrations; the Friends of the Library book sale; group study room; tech lab;
carpet replacement; public address system; and video camera installations.
ADJOURNMENT
Chair Lai adjourned the meeting at 8:41 p.m.
