City of Sunnyvale Meeting Minutes City Council Thursday, April 28, 2022 6:00 PM Telepresence Meeting: City Web Stream Special Meeting: Moffett Park Specific Plan - Land Use Workshop | Closed Session - 6 PM 6 P.M. SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING (Workshop/Closed Session) Call to Order Pursuant to Government Code Subdivision 54953(e), the meeting was conducted telephonically; pursuant to state law, the City Council made the necessary findings by adopting Resolution No. 1089-21, reaffirmed on April 5, 2022. Mayor Klein called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. via teleconference. Roll Call Present: 7 - Mayor Larry Klein Vice Mayor Alysa Cisneros Councilmember Gustav Larsson Councilmember Glenn Hendricks Councilmember Russ Melton Councilmember Omar Din Councilmember Anthony (Tony) Spitaleri Mayor Klein, Vice Mayor Cisneros and all Councilmembers attended via teleconference. Workshop A 22-0448 Moffett Park Specific Plan: Land Use Workshop Principal Planner, Michelle King and the following provided the staff presentation: Chris Sensenig, Senior Associate, Raimi & Associates Public Comment opened at 6:34 p.m. Daniel Elek, Building Manager at 1200 Crossman Avenue voiced their opinion City of Sunnyvale Page 1 City Council Meeting Minutes April 28, 2022 regarding the zoning planned for that parcel. Kenneth Rosales, SV@Home urged the City to focus on building affordable housing within the Moffett Park Specific Plan. Mike Serrone shared support development of the Moffett Park region. Tara Martin-Milius supports the Moffett Park Specific Plan and efforts to include equity and inclusion in the decision making process. Perry Hariri, Miramar Capital requested clarification regarding building restrictions and requirements within the Plan. Jennifer Hetterly, Sierra Club "Stay Alive Campaign" expressed concerns regarding developments in the Plan near open space land and the impact on wildlife. Janette D'Elia, Chief Operating Officer, Jay Paul Company voiced concerns with the requirement of maker-spaces within the Plan and a desire for the Plan to be approved this year. Gita Dev, Sierra Club shared concerns on the impact of the Plan's high density housing near open space and wildlife. Giulianna Pendleton, Environmental Advocacy Assistant, Santa Clara Valley Audubon Society advocated for habitat conservation and preservation of the wetlands. Gail Rubino requested additional information on the Plan's anticipated impact on local wildlife. Eileen McLaughlin, Citizens Committee to Complete the Refuge voiced concerns on height restrictions and the possible impacts to wildlife and ecological conditions of the area. Agnes Veith shared support for the Plan and its long term impact. Kerry Haywood, Moffett Park Business Group voiced support for the land use goals of the Plan and provided suggestions for staff to consider.
