Kevin Jackson communicated their support for Budget Supplement No. 1, DPW 21-01. Kristel Wickham, Sustainability Commission Chair, shared the Commission’s recommendations regarding the Budget Supplements. John Patton, Sunnyvale Urban Forest Advocates, spoke in support for funding Study Issue DPW 22-04 – Street Tree Repopulation with an Equity Lens. Budget Supplement 1: Funding for Study Issues for the FY 2023/24 Recommended Budget MOTION: Councilmember Mehlinger moved and Councilmember Sell seconded the motion to approve Alternative 1: Approve the Supplement as proposed. The motion carried with the following vote: Yes: 7 - Mayor Klein Vice Mayor Din Councilmember Melton Councilmember Cisneros Councilmember Mehlinger Councilmember Srinivasan Councilmember Sell No: 0 Budget Supplement 2: Potential Additional Services or Reductions to be Considered for the FY 2023/24 Recommended Budget MOTION: Councilmember Mehlinger moved and Councilmember Sell seconded the motion to approve Alternative 2: Direct the City Manager to amend the FY 2023/24 Recommended Budget by including: - Budget Supplement No. 2: 2A.5 – 820130 - Routine Resurfacing of City Owned City of Sunnyvale Page 4 City Council Meeting Minutes May 18, 2023 Parking Lots – Eliminate funding for paving associated with City-owned parking lots associated with civic center, library and community center; and - Budget Supplement No. 2: 2B.2 – 835490 - Community Events & Neighborhood Grants; add additional funding for Community and Neighborhood Grants – Allocate a 10% increase every two years. Mayor Klein divided motion for the purposes of voting. Councilmember Melton declined to accept the friendly amendment. FORMAL AMENDMENT Councilmember Mehlinger moved and Vice Mayor Din seconded the motion to limit the Service Level Increase to one year.
