A 25-0672 Orchard Heritage Park and Heritage Park Museum (Study
Issue DPW 17-05)
Public Works Director Chip Taylor; and Greg Yanito, Senior Associate, Page &
Turnbull; Sophie Carollo-Mandel, Community Outreach Coordinator, CBI; John
Leffingwell, Project Orchardist; Teifion Rice-Evans, Managing Principal Economic &
Planning Systems, EPS; and Caroline Geyer, Architect, Page & Turnbull, provided
the staff report and presentation.
Public Comment opened at 7:04 p.m.
Laura Babcock, Museum Director, Sunnyvale Heritage Park Museum,
communicated their support for Option C when considering expansion options for
City of Sunnyvale Page 1

the Sunnyvale Heritage Park Museum.
Mike Serrone voiced support for the operating changes of Model 2 to the Orchard
Heritage Park, Option C when considering expansion options for the Sunnyvale
Heritage Park Museum.
Zachary Kaufman spoke to their concerns regarding funding, revenue streams, and
orchard configuration at the Orchard Heritage Park and Museum.
Tiffany Anderson, President, Heritage Park Museum, advocated for incorporating
children's educational opportunities in the Orchard and for Option C when
considering expansion options for the Sunnyvale Heritage Park Museum.
Sue Ellen Johnson, Heritage Park Museum, voice their support for expansion
options that best integrate the Orchard Heritage Park and Heritage Park Museum.
Stephen Meier shared their support for Option C when considering expansion
options for the Sunnyvale Heritage Park Museum and commented on the high costs
of operating the Orchard Heritage Park.

B 25-0493 World Town Planning Day
Mayor Klein spoke in honor of World Town Planning Day.
Community Development Director Trudi Ryan spoke in recognition of World Town
Planning Day.
ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
Ari Feinsmith, Sunnyvale Safe Streets, provided a presentation in support Option 1
buffered bicycle lanes for the Hollenbeck Bike Lane Study and offered alternatives
to concerns regarding Option 1.
Sharlene Liu, Sunnyvale Safe Streets, continued the presentation.
Lauren shared their concerns with the potential of replacing street parking on
Hollenbeck Avenue with bicycle lanes.
Stephen Meier communicated their support of Option 1; Hollenbeck buffered bicycle
lanes and to the proposed trial phase by Sunnyvale Safe Streets.

by the City Manager
Approve the list(s) of claims and bills.
1.B 25-0873 Authorize the City Manager, or Designee, to (1) Execute the
Cost Share Agreement by and between the City of Sunnyvale
and the Santa Clara Valley Water District for the Construction
of a Joint Wall for the Sunnyvale Cleanwater Program's
Perimeter Wall, and (2) Execute the West Channel Joint Wall
Project: Operation and Maintenance Agreement Between the
City of Sunnyvale and the Santa Clara Valley Water District for
the Sunnyvale Cleanwater Program's Perimeter Wall
Approve the City Manager to execute the West Channel Joint Wall Project:
Operation and Maintenance Agreement and Cost Sharing Agreement by and
between the City of Sunnyvale and the Santa Clara Valley Water District for
Construction of a Joint Wall.
1.C 25-0887 Award of Contract to Shredding Systems Incorporated in the
Amount of $2,672,831.22 for a Pre-Load Compactor for the
Sunnyvale Material Recovery and Transfer (SMaRT) Station
NextGen Project and Approve a 7% Contingency in the
Amount of $175,850 (F26-020)
Take the following actions:
- Award a contract to SSI Shredding, Inc. for a pre-load compactor in substantially
the same form as Attachment 1 to the report in an amount not-to-exceed
$2,672,831.22;
- Approve a 7% Contingency for the Purchase in the Amount of $175,850.09; and
- Authorize the City Manager to execute the Contract when all necessary conditions
have been met.

MOTION: Councilmember Mehlinger moved and Councilmember Chang seconded
the motion to approve Alternative 2: Adopt a Resolution (Attachment 4 to the report)
approving the City Council Regular Meeting Calendar for April 2026 through March
2027 with meetings on the second and fourth Tuesdays in most months, as
submitted.
The motion failed with the following vote:
