Otto Lee, Santa Clara County Supervisor, spoke in honor of Vice Mayor Sell for their service as Vice Mayor this past year. Maggie, Sunnyvale Girl Scout Troop 60506, provided a presentation in support of the adoption of a dark sky ordinance. Sara, Sunnyvale Girl Scout Troop 60506, continued the presentation. Grace, Sunnyvale Girl Scout Troop 60506, continued the presentation. Malena, Sunnyvale Girl Scout Troop 60506, continued the presentation. Steve Scandalis provided a presentation that reviewed Sunnyvale City Council vacancy history. John Kehoe shared an update regarding the Sunnyvale Baylands Park pollinator project. Aileen Honess spoke to their support for prioritizing bicycle and pedestrian transportation improvements and shared their data collection concerns regarding Flock Safety cameras. Kathy Besser proposed enacting an emergency evacuation go-bag project for residents. Tara Martin-Milius, Sunnyvale Rotary Club, announced the annual Sunnyvale Rotary Club fundraiser. Russ Melton, Chief Executive Officer, Sunnyvale Chamber of Commerce, shared the upcoming Sunnyvale Chamber of Commerce events: the Murphy Awards and City of Sunnyvale Page 2 City Council Meeting Minutes January 13, 2026 the Art and Wine Festival. Rani Fischer, Environmental Action Committee Chair, Santa Clara Valley Bird Alliance, advocated for the adoption of a dark sky ordinance. Andrew Gasperini shared their concerns with potential of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations taking place in Sunnyvale. Sharlene Liu spoke in recognition of Vice Mayor Sell and advocated for funding Active Transportation Plan projects. Zachary Kaufman commented on the proposed Moffett Park agenda item heard during the December 9, 2025, City Council meeting and referenced discrepancies they observed in the staff report. Steve, Washington Park Neighborhood Association, shared their concerns with the proposed MidPen Housing Corporation development at 295 S. Mathilda Avenue and concerns with nitrous oxide sales at Sunnyvale smoke shops. Uday, Washington Park Neighborhood Association, communicated concerns with the proposed MidPen Housing Corporation development at 295 S. Mathilda Avenue. Marie Bernard, Executive Director, Sunnyvale Community Services, advocated for Council to focus on the strategic priority - Housing Solutions: A model to prevent homelessness, prioritize new housing and support the unhoused community. Dashiell Leeds, Conservation Coordinator, Sierra Club Loma Prieta Chapter, advocated for the adoption of a dark sky ordinance.
