CALL TO ORDER
Chair Sharma called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM.
SALUTE TO THE FLAG
Chair Sharma led the salute to the flag.
ROLL CALL
The absence of Commissioner Rajkumar is excused as she has notified staff of her
planned absence.
Chair Sharma announced a 10 minute recess and continued the recess at 7:15 to
reconvene the meeting at 7:35 until Commissioner Caroompas arrived.

PUBLIC HEARINGS/GENERAL BUSINESS
2. 23-0777 Selection of Chair
Vice Chair Patel nominated Commissioner Johnson to serve as Chair of the
Heritage Preservation Commission.
MOTION: Vice Chair Patel moved and Commissioner Caroompas seconded the
motion to select Commissioner Johnson as Chair of the Heritage Preservation
Commission.
The motion carried by the following vote:

3. 23-0778 Selection of Vice Chair
Chair Sharma nominated Vice Chair Patel to continue to serve as Vice Chair of the
Heritage Preservation Commission.
MOTION: Chair Sharma moved and Commissioner Caroompas seconded the
motion to select Vice Chair Patel to continue as Vice Chair of the Heritage
Preservation Commission.

STANDING ITEM: CONSIDERATION OF POTENTIAL STUDY ISSUES
None.
NON-AGENDA ITEMS & COMMENTS
Principal Planner George Schroeder congratulated Commissioner Johnson and Vice
Chair Patel on their new positions as Chair and Vice Chair of the Commission. He
also mentioned that Senior Planner Momoko Ishijima will be taking over as the staff
liaison to the Commission.
Mr. Schroeder also noted a Request For Proposal (RFP) for the Technological
Resources study issue has been submitted and will also be assigning a project
planner to the study issue for updating the Historic Context Statement for Asian
Americans and other minorities.
-Commissioner Comments
Chair Sharma congratulated Commissioner Johnson and Vice Chair Patel for their
nominations to serve as Chair and Vice Chair to the Commission. She also thanked
the Commission for allowing her to serve as the Chair for the past year.
Commissioner Caroompas congratulated the newly appointed Chair and Vice Chair
and acknowledged Chair Sharma for doing a great job as Chair.

(Open Meeting Law) does not allow the Heritage Preservation Commission to take
action on an item not listed on the agenda. If you wish to address the Heritage
Preservation Commission, please refer to the notice at the beginning of this
