City of Sunnyvale Meeting Minutes - Final Housing and Human Services Commission Wednesday, February 22, 2017 7:00 PM Council Chambers / West Conference Room, City Hall, 456 W. Olive Ave., Sunnyvale, CA 94086 CALL TO ORDER Vice Chair Kwok called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m. SALUTE TO THE FLAG Vice Chair Kwok led the salute to the flag. ROLL CALL Present: 3 - Vice Chair Minjung Kwok Commissioner Diana Gilbert Commissioner Elinor Stetson Absent: 2 - Chair Patti Evans Commissioner Joshua Grossman Chair Patti Evans (excused absence) Commissioner Joshua Grossman (excused absence) Council Liaison Glenn Hendricks (absent) PRESENTATION 17-0254 Proposals for CDBG Human Services Funding for FY 2017-18 and FY 2018-19, and for CDBG/HOME Capital Project Loans for FY 2017-18 Housing Officer Suzanne Isé noted that this item was just a presentation and did not require any action at this time. The following speakers briefly presented their proposals and asked for funding consideration. Those that have previously received funding from the City thanked the Commission for its past support of their programs. 1. Tanis Crosby, YWCA Silicon Valley: Domestic Violence Support Network. 2. Becky Cooper, Friends for Youth: Youth Intervention Services, Mentoring Program for Disadvantaged Youth. 4. Amanda Olson and Martin Chavez, Downtown Streets Team: Work First Sunnyvale for homeless and extremely low-income individuals. 5. Marie Bernard, Sunnyvale Community Services: Year-Round Food Program. 6. Maureen Damrel, Downtown Streets Team: City-Wide Homeless Outreach and Community Engagement. 7. Dan Schmid and Debra Chavez, LifeMoves: Shelter Services for Homeless Famlies and Individuals. 8. Debbie Witt and Tom Morse, First United Methodist Church: Senior Nutrition Program. 9. Craig King, Greater Opportunities: Cortez Semi-Independent Living Program, Rehabilitation of Cortez Apartments. 10. Teresa Johnson, The Health Trust: Meals on Wheels Program for Homebound Adults. 11. Milton Cadena, Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County: Day Break Cares Adult Day Care Program. 12. Maryanne McGlothlin, Family and Children Services: Counseling for At-risk Youth at the Columbia Neighborhood Center (CNC). 13. Jo Bailard, Abilities United: Adult Services. 14. Georgia Bacil, Senior Adults Legal Assistance (SALA): Free Legal Assistance for Sunnyvale Seniors. 15. Pilar Furlong, Bill Wilson Center: Counseling Program for Families & Individuals. 16. Kelvin Quan, MayView Community Health Center: Primary Healthcare Services. 17. Patricia Lawson-North, Friends of Vision Literacy: English Language Development Classes. 18. Laura Clendaniel, Healthier Kids Foundation: Vision First Program. 19. Colleen Hudgen, Live Oak Adult Day Services: Adult Day Care, Cupertino Center. 20. Wanda Hale, Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County: Long Term Care Ombudsman Program. Following the presentations, staff thanked all the presenters for participating. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS None. Approve the Housing and Human Services Commission Minutes of November 16, 2016 as submitted. 2 16-1138 Approve 2017 Draft Master Work Plan Deferred to March 22 meeting due to lack of quorum.
