Chair Paton called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. in the City Council Chambers.

PRESENTATION
15-0467 PRESENTATION - Sunnyvale Urban Forest Advocates
Deborah Marks and Seema Srivastava, representing Sunnyvale Urban Forest
Advocates (SUFA), presented information on what this new volunteer organization
has been working on and its goals. SUFA was formed in November 2014 and is a
volunteer group supporting the City and its residents in the planting and care of the
City’s Urban Forest. SUFA has established a website
(http://www.sunnyvaleurbanforestadvocates.org/) with more information on its
efforts, events, and meeting information. SUFA is interested in advancing a Study
Issue to establish a Tree Fund and requirements for tree removal notifications.
Scott Morton, Superintendent of Parks and Golf, responded to Commissioners'
questions including providing information on the City’s Urban Forest Management
Plan, the City’s tree canopy, volunteer partnerships, and water use in City Parks.

15-0466 Draft Minutes of the Sustainability Commission Meeting of
March 16, 2015

None.
PUBLIC HEARINGS/GENERAL BUSINESS
15-0465 Sustainability Commission 2015 Annual Calendar
Commissioners reviewed the draft calendar and added additional discussion items
related to key strategic areas of interest to the Commission. The discussion items
will be Commission initiated discussions requiring minimum work of City staff and
intended to better position the Commission to effectively review and develop
recommendations to City Council on sustainability related policy issues.
Commissioner Kisyova moved, and Commissioner Glazebrook seconded, a motion
to approve the 2015 calendar as revised during the meeting with the understanding
that there would be fluidity over the year and potential adjustments to the timing of
the agenda items.

NON-AGENDA ITEMS & COMMENTS
-Commissioner Comments
Commissioner Paton attended the Earth Day festivals at Full Circle Farms which
had a very energetic crowd. Commissioner Hafeman was working at the event.
Commissioner Fukumoto commented that she would like to see the City post GHG
emissions on the website and possibly the Community Condition Indicators related
to Sustainability. Commissioner Fukumoto also noted that Commissioners may be
interested in the 2012 BRT report which included key transportation related data
information.
Commissioner Glazebrook shared that businesses are interested in connecting and
learning more about what the City is doing and suggested organizing a structured
event soliciting feedback from businesses, specifically in the Moffett Park area, as a
way of fostering more interaction.
-Staff Comments
Elaine Marshall shared that staff are preparing for the Fit and Fun Earth Day Fair
that will be held at the Columbia Neighborhood Center on April 25th from 10 a.m. to
3 p.m.
