Commissioner Glaser shared that he is designing a new house and the architect
has brought in a zero energy consultant and it will be interesting to see what the
consultant recommends. Commissioner Glaser also shared that the demand for
electric buses is tremendous and that work to electrify vehicles is growing
exponentially. The industry is having a hard time keeping up.
Chair Paton shared that he and Commissioner Fukumoto attended the recent
forum on Sea Level Rise hosted by Congresswoman Anna Eshoo and
Assemblyman Rich Gordon. A panel that included representatives from private
industry, the Water District, County of Santa Clara, and Mountain View shared
different views and perspectives about sea level rise impacts and discussed the
problems they are most concerned about.
Commissioner Fukumoto noted that a key takeaway for her from the forum is that
planning has to start now. Commissioner Fukumoto is interested in inviting the
County to an upcoming Commission meeting to share the results of Silicon Valley
2.0.
Commissioner Srivastava noted that he noticed during a recent bike ride along the
Bay Trail how many homes are built adjacent to the Bay Trail in vulnerable areas.
Commissioner Srivastava also shared that on a recent trip to Paris, he experienced
what a bike friendly city is was and was amazed by how easy it was to get around
the city by bike.
