CALL TO ORDER
Gerri Caruso, Principal Planner, called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m.
PUBLIC HEARINGS

Location: 462 E. McKinley Avenue (APN: 209-22-025)
Applicant / Owner: Construction Services (applicant) / Roberto and
Madeline Sotelo (owner)
Proposed Project:
VARIANCE to allow a portion of a 72 sq. ft. front yard addition
to encroach five feet into the required 20-foot front yard
setback and a new front yard porch to encroach eight feet into
the required 20-foot front yard setback
Reason for Permit: A Variance is required to consider a reduction in
required setbacks
Environmental Review: Categorically Exempt from the California
Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) per CEQA Guidelines Section
15301 (Class 1, Existing Facilities)
Issues: Setbacks

Recommendation: Approve with conditions
Ms. Caruso asked if George Schroeder, project planner, had any updates to the
project.
Mr. Schroeder stated there were no updates or corrections to be noted.
Cassady Monsen, project contractor, stated he agreed with the staff report for the
recommended approval of the project. The home should fit within the same
allowable setbacks where the design of front porch is consistent with the
neighborhood. The conditions in the report are completely acceptable.
Mr. Sotelo, applicant, stated staff explained clearly what is allowable and has
proposed a good compromise for the project. Mr. Sotelo stated he is comfortable

working with within the guidelines.
Ms. Caruso opened the hearing to the public, as there were no additional
comments made, Ms. Caruso closed the public hearing.
ACTION: Approved subject to the findings and conditions of approval located in the
staff report.
ADJOURNMENT
Ms. Caruso adjourned the meeting at 3:03 p.m.
