Olive Ave., Sunnyvale, CA 94086 CALL TO ORDER Gerri Caruso, Principal Planner, called the meeting to order at 3:30 p.m. PUBLIC HEARINGS File #: 2017-7908 Location: 725-727 Sunnyvale Saratoga Road (APN: 201-37-012) Applicant / Owner: Gold Star Gymnastics (applicant) / Esther Leung Trustee (owner) Proposed Project: SPECIAL DEVELOPMENT PERMIT to combine two tenant spaces and allow the expanded Recreational/Athletic Gym use. Reason for Permit: A Special Development Permit is required for the proposed Recreational/Athletic Gym use. Project Planner: Kelly Cha, (408) 730-7408, kcha@sunnyvale.ca.gov Issues: Parking and Circulation Recommendation: Approve with conditions. Ms. Caruso asked if Kelly Cha, project planner, had any additional updates or comments. Ms. Cha stated there were no updates however she did receive a call from Total Woman Spa inquiring about the hearing process. Ms. Caruso stated she did not have any questions and opened the hearing to the applicant. Pamela Evans, applicant, stated she has read the conditions of approval and did not have any comments. Ms. Caruso stated that if the project is approved, the final design of revised parking area landscaping including a planting and irrigation plan should be submitted to the Planning Division for Ms. Cha to review prior to submitting to the Building Division. Terri Coiture, applicant, stated Ms. Evans was very excited about the project and new location. Ted Leung, building owner, stated he did not have any comments. A member of the public inquired about the hours of operation, to which Ms. Caruso stated the information could be asked of the applicant. Ms. Evans and Ms. Coiture stated they were both excited about the new development and everyone has been very welcoming. Leesa Fox, a member of the public, asked to clarify which building the project will be located. Ms. Caruso stated the project includes two tenant spaces in an existing building including the site previously occupied by Aaron Brothers and the tenant space next to it at the end of the building. Ms. Fox inquired if Ms. Caruso meant the tenant space next door as the space currently occupied by Total Woman, to which Ms. Caruso confirmed it was. Ms. Caruso inquired if there were any other comments. With no further comments from the public, Ms. Caruso closed the public hearing. Ms. Caruso stated the use is an allowed use subject to a special development permit within the zoning district. ACTION: Approved subject to the findings and conditions of approval located in the staff report with the following addition: 1) Final design of revised parking area landscape including a planting and irrigation plan to be submitted to the Planning Division prior to submitting to the Building Division.
