CALL TO ORDER
George Schroeder, Zoning Administrator, called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m.
PUBLIC HEARINGS
Proposed Project:
VARIANCE: to allow deviation from Sunnyvale Municipal Code (SMC)
Section 19.34.030 for a 74-square foot front addition to encroach five
feet into the required 20-foot front yard setback; a new gable roof to
encroach two and one half feet into the required front yard setback; and,
increase the height of the existing front façade wall for a new gable roof
form five feet into the front yard setback.

Mr. Schroeder inquired with Momoko Ishijima, Project Planner, if there were any
additions to the staff report or comments.
Ms. Ishijima had no additions or updates to the staff report and received no
comments from the public.
Mr. Schroeder inquired if the structure would not be getting closer to the street or
existing wall. He also asked for confirmation that there would not be any columns.

Ms. Ishijima confirmed only the gable structure encroaches into the front setback,
but the porch would be enclosed. She also confirmed there are no columns as the
structure was asked to be cantilevered.
Mr. Schroeder inquired if the applicant had any updates.
Tracy Tripp, applicant, stated they wished to square off the house similarly to other
houses in the neighborhood. Ms. Tripp states it would make the space more livable
and usable.
Mr. Schroeder opened the hearing to public comments.
No members of the public wished to speak on this item.
Mr. Schroeder closed the hearing to public comments.
ACTION: Alternative 1 - Approve Variance with the recommended Findings in
Attachment 3 and recommended Conditions in Attachment 4.
ADJOURNMENT
Mr. Schroeder adjourned the hearing at 3:05 p.m.
