February 20, 2023 Regular Meeting
The meeting was called to order by Chair Reder at 5:36 pm on February 20, 2023 in Government Center
Room 204.
1 ROLL CALL
PRESENT: Deanna Reder, Ephriam Nikoi
VIRTUAL: Jenny Van Sickle, Louren Yzaguirre
ABSENT: Tanzeem Ali
CITY STAFF PRESENT: Mayor Paine (Virtual), Becky Scherf (Virtual)

2 APPROVAL OF MINUTES
2.1 Mayor’s Commission on Communities of Color (Meeting held January 09, 2023)
MOTION by Louren Yzaguirre, minutes approved to file viva voce
3 CHAQUANA MCENTYRE – FOUNDER – FAMILIES RISE TOGETHER
Chaquana McEntyre did not make the meeting and was tabled as a speak for a future
meeting regarding Juneteenth and how the Commission can be of assistance both as a
sponsor and helping the day of.
4 DISCUSS SCHEDULE FOR SPEAKERS
Commission discussed several options for speakers. Commissioner Nikoi to reach out to
Kosey Painters as possible option for March.
5 BUDGET 2023
Commission discussion regarding how they wanted to spend their annual budget through
programming support, sponsorships, or possible scholarship collaboration. Juneteenth was
again brought into discussion and commission reviewed letter submitted (attached) from
ChaQuana McEntyre as a request for funding. Chief of Staff Scherf to bring options for
tablecloths to March meeting.
6 ANY OTHER BUSINESS
Commission discussed website update and Soul Food event at UWS
7 ADJOURNMENT
Meeting adjourned by Chair Reder at 6:18PM
