New Business
1. Recommendation to purchase an air powered rescue/firefighting water craft from Lake
Assault Boats
Chief Gordon told committee members that he is requesting to purchase one (1) air powered
rescue/firefighting watercraft from Lake Assault Boats in the amount of $276,115.00. Chief Gordon also
gave some background on the funding. The Fire Department applied for and received a Federal
Emergency Management Agency Port Security Grant to cover 75% ($225,000) of the purchase of said
watercraft. The grant requires matching funds of $75,000.00, which are in place through the fire
department CIP account. Chief Gordon also noted that this price also includes $20,000 for training. The
proposed air powered watercraft will be able to operate in all open water and ice conditions. It will
provide a safe operating platform for rescue, firefighting, dive team operations, and law enforcement to
access the port in icy conditions. Chief Gordon also told committee members about the bids received for
this boat build, explained why this particular boat was chosen, and why Lake Assault is the preferred
builder.
Motion by Councilor Bender, seconded by Councilor Ledin and carried to approve the purchase an air
powered rescue/firefighting water craft from Lake Assault Boats
Meeting was adjourned at 4:20 p.m.
