SWANSBORO TOURISM DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES Thursday, January 13, 2022 Call to Order Mr. Swanson called the meeting to order at 2:36 pm. Board members in attendance were: Randy Swanson, Linda Thornley, Junior Freeman, Sherri Hancock and Scott Chadwick. Members absent: Jack Harnatkiewicz. Approval of Minutes Special Meeting Minutes from October 21, 2021 omitted for revisions. Reports Swansboro Finance Director, Sonia Johnson, reviewed the following Financial Report. TDA REGULAR MEETING - APRIL 14, 2022 Page 9 of 37 Funding Requests - Military History Exhibit ($871.15) After discussion, Mr. Swanson made a motion to approve the request. With a 2nd by Ms. Thornley, the remaining Board Members voted as follows: Junior Freemen YES Sherri Hancock YES Scott Chadwick NO Request was approved. Budget Ordinance Amendment #2022-2 Ms. Johnson discussed the Donation from the Downtown Merchant’s Association in the amount of $4600.00. Upon a motion by Linda Thornley to approve a donation into the TDA Funds for expenses incurred during the downtown event and possibly Merchant’s Guide, the Board unanimously approved. Marketing & Advertising Update/Additional Opportunities Mr. Darryl Marsh of Front Row Communications presented the update and additional opportunities. TDA REGULAR MEETING - APRIL 14, 2022 Page 10 of 37 Following discussion, Mr. Chadwick made a motion to approve the first three items on the additional opportunities list in the amount of $6834.00, followed by a 2nd by Mr. Swanson. The Board unanimously approved. Review of Current Grant Application Following discussion, Ms. Johnson agreed to develop and application, based on the Jacksonville TDA Application, and send to the Board for review. Visitor’s Center Update Paula Webb, Town Manager presented an updated layout to the Board. Discussion followed regarding the layout, number of sinks and laundry area. Public Comments Ms. Johnson asked the Board if they wish to continue meeting in person. The Board said yes. Board Comments Mr. Freeman requested that Mr. Marsh give a monthly report on Facebook posts and put a date on expenditures. Adjournment Mr. Swanson made a motion to adjourn, with a 2nd by Mr. Freeman, the Board approved unanimously.
