TOWN OF SYLVA BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS SPECIAL CALLED MEETING Thursday, May 30, 2024 at 5:30 PM Board Room, 83 Allen Street Sylva, North Carolina MINUTES PRESENT: Blitz Estridge, Commissioner Paige Dowling, Town Manager Mary Gelbaugh, Mayor Pro-Tem Amanda Murajda, Town Clerk Mark Jones, Commissioner Eric Ridenour, Town Attorney Johnny Phillips, Mayor Brad Waldrop, Commissioner ABSENT: CALL TO ORDER Mayor Phillips called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. STAFF PRESENT: VISITORS: Tammy Brown, Elaine Brown, Dolphus Brown, Alicia Stewart, Luther Jones and Keith Blaine. APPROVAL OF AGENDA Commissioner Gelbaugh made a motion to approve the agenda. The motion carried with a unanimous vote. PUBLIC HEARING—FY 2024-2025 BUDGET: Mayor Phillips opened the public hearing at 5:30 p.m. Commissioner Waldrop thanked all those who worked on the budget. Being no further comment, Commissioner Jones made a motion to close the hearing at 5:31 p.m. The motion carried with a unanimous vote. SWEARING-IN CEREMONY: Amanda Murajda, Town Clerk, administered the oath of office to the newly appointed Commissioner, Jonathan Brown.
