The committee approved the minutes from the January meting
Jessie Carpenter (city clerk) went over items from the new items in the city code relating to
committees and the ethics form; committee leadership and duties, number of meetings required,
Maryland Open Meetings, Code of Conduct, quorums, cc the city employee on all
correspondence between members related to committee business, meeting options, development
of committee handbook.
City Highlights
Mask mandate in effect for all city buildings for employees and visitors
EOP updates I talked with the county about being involved with their 5-year updates
Successful PCR testing at Recreation Center for February
Staff Refresher Training for employees with over 2 years on.
The Takoma Park Library is still distribution rapid CoVid tests and masks at the front desk
during library business hours
County
Indoor Mask Mandate was lifted Monday February 21 at 11:59 pm
Schools in the county are evaluating their mask mandates
Libraries are still distributing masks and test kits, check their website for locations and times
Outreach Methods for 2022
1. Radio show (WMOD) with Claudine Jim and Chris to assist
2. Monthly newsletter- Claudine Jim and Chris to assist
3. Flyers – all will work on distribution at events and places where people gather
a. Committee to look in developing a flyer specific to
i. Elementary school age
ii. Middle and High school age
b. Work with Recreation and schools to make flyers appropriate and consistent with
current practices
c. Pass out with parent permission
4. Events that the EPC will look to participate in participate with information
a. Eggstravaganza
b. TKPK 5K
c. Movie Night
d. Community groups
e. Celebrate Takoma
f. National Night Out
g. Folk festival
h. Street Festival
i. High rises
j. Farmer’s Market
5. Zoom/Presentations to special citizen groups is possible using city resources
6. Seasonal threats and resources coming up with specific flyers and information for the
web page
7. Consider Public Service announcements with City TV- committee to look at members
partnering up to create seasonal messages
Committee Priorities for 2022
1. Members to develop or find communication pathways in their neighborhoods. Claudine
will compile a list
2. Weather events preparedness – City TV PSA
3. Review the Stormwater proposal provided by Chris and discuss at the February meeting

4. Discuss the city’s Emergency Operations Plan for revisions
5. Added Outreach persons with disabilities and children
