Sustainable Maryland Committee Meeting Minutes March 4, 2024 Attendance Dorothy Estrada Melissa Klein Janet Owens Orissa Samaroo Jeremy Schwartz Emanuel Wagner Sophia Yarrow Guests: The meeting was called to order at 7:05 pm. The Committee adopted the January 8, 2024 minutes. Discussion (1) The Committee reviewed the February 7, 2024 meeting with the Takoma Park City Council. Dorothy indicated that council members asked a number of follow-up questions to Daryl Braithwaite and Dorothy, Dept of Public Works. While there was positive feedback expressed by the members, no formal feedback has been given to the Committee on possible next steps. (2) Dorothy provided an overview of upcoming events that she has organized in collaboration with other Takoma Park staff and outside organizations. In principle the Committee discussed the (i) Going Solar March 12, 2024; (ii) DC Smart Homes, DC Armory, April 6, 2024; (iii) Earth Day, April 20,2024. (3) The Committee discussed the upcoming deadline for submission to Sustainable Maryland and made assignments for members to take charge of the various categories: Category 1: Community Action [Melissa, Sophia] Category 2: Community Based Food Systems [Janet, Jeremy] Category 3: Energy [Emanuel, Janet] Category 4: Greenhouse Gas [Emanuel, Orissa] Category 5: Health & Wellness [Melissa] Category 6: Local Economies [Janet, Emanuel]  Category 7: Natural Resources [Jeremy, Sophia] Category 8: Planning and Land Use [Chiara?] Category 9: Historic Preservation [NEW]. [Melissa, Janet] Category 10: Transportation [NEW]. [Emanuel] The Committee adjourned at 8:30pm.
