Sustainable Maryland Committee Meeting Minutes April 1, 2024 Attendance Chiara Atoyebe Dorothy Estrada Melissa Klein Janet Owens Orissa Samaroo Jeremy Schwartz Emanuel Wagner The meeting was called to order at 7:05 pm. The Committee adopted the March 4, 2024 minutes. Discussion (1) Dorothy provided an overview of upcoming events that she has organized in collaboration with other Takoma Park staff and outside organizations in April. The Committee discussed the (i) DC Smart Homes, DC Armory, April 6, 2024; (ii) TPSS COOP Earth Day, April 14, 2024 and (iii) Earth Day, April 20,2024. (2) The Committee spent the remainder of the meeting discussing the upcoming submission to Sustainable Maryland and focused on the first 3 categories: Community Action, Community Based Food Systems, and Energy. Some of the actions discussed included Maple Street Art Library, Free libraries, Public wifi, PEPCO-funded green school garden project, Produce purchasing with SNAP funds at the TPSS COOP, Food Program at the 7th Day Adventist Church, Cooking Demo at Cross Roads, Community Kitchen entrepreneurship, TP Food Forest Collective, and Networked Geothermal Energy installation. The Committee discussed completing the matrix for the first three categories. The Committee adjourned at 8:30pm.
