CITY OF TALLMADGE BOARD OF CONTROL Minutes of Regular Meeting Scheduled For: April 12, 2018 Members Present: Law Director, Finance Director, Pres. of Council, Svs. Director, Mayor Others In Attendance: None. Meeting Chaired By: Mayor Kline Minutes By: Karen Morgan Item 1) Approval of Minutes: The meeting was called to order by Mayor Kline at 8:48 p.m. The Finance Director moved to approve the minutes of the March 8, 2018 Board of Control meeting; seconded by the Law Director. Vote to approve: 5/0. Item 2) Approval of a contract for the purchase of new playground equipment for Lions Park and Washburn Park through U.S. Communities Cooperative Purchasing Program and providing for immediate enactment as approved in Ord. 39-2018 (relevant quotes are attached) Pres. of Coun.: That would be $35,438.79 for Washburn and the other for Lions Park at $178,986.83, correct? Svs. Dir.: That’s correct and it includes the playground surface as well. Fin. Dir.: No, one of the quotes has “additional items” – are you including those additional items . . . Mayor: No, I think that’s for the removal of the old equipment. Svs. Dir.: Yes that was for the removal of the wood boards and pea gravel. Mayor: So, we’re not going to take that option are we? Fin. Dir.: That’s my question. Mayor: The city will clean up the area and grade and not take that option because otherwise I don’t think we have enough money. Svs. Dir.: Yes, that’s right. Fin. Dir.: So “pea gravel to be piled in parking lot at $2,035 is that . . .? Svs. Dir.: We’re not doing that. Fin. Dir.: So the optional add-on on #50275 are not included? Svs. Dir.: That is correct. Pre. Of Coun.: Ok, if I understand the optional add-ons, there’s two – one to just remove the existing equipment for $1,350 which we’re not doing and the other one was to remove the wood borders and pea gravel plus excavate, which we’re not doing? Is that correct? Just want to clarify. Law Dir.: So is that final number the correct number? Fin. Dir.: The $35,438.79, yes. Mayor: I move to approve the contract for the purchase of new playground equipment for Lions and Washburn Parks, $35,438.79 for Washburn and $178,986.83 for Lions per Ord. 39-2018; seconded by Law Dir.
