City Council Special Meeting

ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING in Council Chambers @ 7:00 p.m. January 8, 18 1. CALL TO ORDER. Director of Law Raber: It is now 7:00 p.m. and I would call to order the Tallmadge City Council Organizational meeting. 2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE. 3. ROLL CALL: Mr. Loughry, Mr. Carano, Ms. Tricaso, Mrs. Kilway, Mr. Sisak, Mrs. Allman – present. Also present were Mayor Kline and Law Director Raber. 4. ELECTION OF PRESIDENT OF COUNCIL. Dir. of Law: The first item of business this evening is the election of the President of Council. Is there a motion for President of Council? Mr. Sisak: I would like to nominate Carol Kilway for President of Council. Seconded Ms. Tricaso. Dir. of Law: There is a motion and a second. Are there any other nominations? No one responded. Hearing none; is there any discussion? There was no discussion. We will do a roll call vote. Roll Call: Mr. Loughry, Mr. Carano, Ms. Tricaso, Mrs. Kilway, Mr. Sisak, Mrs. Allman – unanimous. Dir. of Law: Mrs. Kilway, you have unanimously been elected President of Council. Congratulations. Pres. of Council: Thank you Council. Dir. of Law: At this point; if you would like to assume the meeting. 5. ELECTION OF MEMBER OF COUNCIL TO SERVE AS VICE PRESIDENT OF COUNCIL. Pres. of Council: Next up we have the election of Vice President of Council. I would like to nominate Mr. Sisak as Vice President of Tallmadge City Council. Seconded Mrs. Allman. Pres. of Council: We have a motion and a second to nominate Craig Sisak as Vice President of Council. Do we have any further discussion or any other nominations? No one responded. Roll Call: Mr. Loughry, Mr. Carano, Ms. Tricaso, Mr. Sisak, Mrs. Allman, Mrs. Kilway – unanimous. Mr. Sisak has been elected Vice President of Council by a vote of 6-0. 6. ELECTION OF CLERK OF COUNCIL. Pres. of Council: Are there any nominations? Mr. Sisak: I would like to nominate Sue Burton please. Seconded Mrs. Allman. Pres. of Council: Are there any other nominations? No one responded. Any further discussion? No one responded. Roll Call: Mr. Carano, Ms. Tricaso, Mr. Sisak, Mrs. Allman, Mrs. Kilway, Mr. Loughry – unanimous. Pres. of Council: The Clerk of Council is Susan Burton by a vote of 6-0. Congratulations. 7. ELECTION OF DEPUTY CLERK OF COUNCIL. Mr. Loughry: I would like to nominate Regina Conti as Deputy Clerk of Council. Seconded Mr. Sisak. Pres. of Council: We have a motion and a second for Mrs. Conti as Deputy Clerk of Council. Do we have any other nominations? No one responded. Roll Call: Ms. Tricaso, Mr. Sisak, Mrs. Allman, Mrs. Kilway, Mr. Loughry, Mr. Carano – unanimous. Pres. of Council: The Deputy Clerk of Council is Regina Conti by a vote of 6-0. Congratulations. 8. ASSIGNMENT OF COMMITTEES. Pres. of Council: I have gone over this and the following are my recommendations: • PUBLIC SERVICE: Becky Allman is the Chair, Dennis Loughry is the Vice Chair and the third member is Jim Donovan. • PLANNING & ZONING: Jim Donovan is Chair, Craig Sisak is Vice Chair and the third member is Mary Tricaso. • COMMUNITY ISSUES/SAFETY: Michael Carano is Chair, Mary Tricaso is Vice Chair and the third member is Dennis Loughry. • FINANCE: Craig Sisak is Chair, Jim Donovan is Vice Chair and the third member is Michael Carano. • PUBLIC UTILITIES: Dennis Loughry is Chair, Michael Carano is Vice Chair and the third member is Becky Allman. • PERSONNEL: Mary Tricaso is Chair, Becky Allman is Vice Chair and the third member is Craig Sisak. 8.A. DISCUSSION OF 2018 MEETING DATES. Mr. Carano: I make a motion that we cancel the August 9, 2018 vacation week. Seconded Ms. Tricaso. Voice vote 6-0. The week of August 9th is no longer to be used as Council vacation. 9. APPOINTMENT OF CHAIRPERSON TO RICHARDSON TRUST FUND. (In the past this has always been Kim Ray). Pres. of Council: Mr. Sisak has accepted the position of Chairperson to the Richardson Trust Fund. 10. APPOINTMENT OF TWO FIREFIGHTERS TO SERVE ON THE FIRE FIGHTERS’ DEPENDENTS FUND (The two firefighters chosen were Dave Gauer and John Tosko). 11. APPOINTMENT OF FIRE FIGHTERS’ DEPENDENTS FUND SECRETARY. (Last year Craig Sisak was the Secretary). Pres. of Council: Since Craig is going to be the Chairperson of the Richardson Trust Fund; Mary Tricaso has agreed to be the Secretary to the Fire Fighters’ Dependents Fund. Thank you Mary. 12. APPOINTMENT OF FIRE FIGHTERS’ DEPENDENTS FUND AT-LARGE MEMBER. (Last year Chip Billows was the At-Large Member). He has agreed to be the At-Large Member again this year. 13. ADJOURNMENT: Mr. Loughry moved to adjourn. Seconded Mr. Sisak. Voice vote 6-0.
