MINUTES OF THE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING November 15, 2017 - 8:00 A.M. Members Present: Chairman Jan Naso Commissioner Tom Kot Commissioner Christine Higham Non-Members Mayor Dave Kline Present: Director of Administration Dr. Don Cooper Director of Public Service Mike Rorar ______________________________________________________________________________ The November 15, 2017 Civil Service Commission meeting was called to order. Minutes of the November 1, 2017 meeting were approved as published. Mayor Kline stated that he had no updates on the Lateral-Entry Police Officer position and the Part-Time Records Clerk position. Chairman Naso stated that for the Assistant Road Superintendent Exam, 14 persons applied and 13 showed up to take the exam and 12 passed the exam. Mr. Naso made a motion to certify the eligibility list for the position of Assistant Road Superintendent with a list of ten names. Motion was passed and carried. He gave the list and copies of their applications to Director of Public Service Rorar. Mr. Naso said that there had been a request to reopen the Part-Time/Full-Time General Laborer’s Eligibility List. Normally, when there are two lists open, they are combined, but these lists differ in that the previous one is for part-time also and the test that was recently given was for full-time only; therefore, they cannot be combined. We will reopen that list (part-time) because it is good until August 2018. Mr. Rorar thanked the Commission. Chairman Naso stated that the Building Maintenance Technician Exam was given last evening. Eleven persons took the exam and we should be getting the results in a few days. Next Wednesday we should be able to certify that list. Page 2 November 15, 2017 In everyone’s packet was the response from Steve Wood regarding the Tallmadge Schools. Mr. Naso stated that he will be meeting with Assistant Law Director John Scavelli, who has information concerning this situation. It is the School’s intent to sever all relations with Civil Service. And I just want to make sure that however they are doing this, it is the appropriate way to do it. I will pass on any information I receive from John and I’m sure we will meet again next week.
