MINUTES OF THE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING September 26, 2018 - 8:00 A.M. Members Present: Chairman Jan Naso Commissioner Tom Kot Commissioner Christine Higham Non-Members Mayor Dave Kline Director of Public Service Michael Rorer Present: Director of Law Megan Raber Assistant Director of Law Melody Briand ______________________________________________________________________________ The September 26, 2018 Civil Service Commission meeting was called to order. Minutes of the August 1, 2018 meeting were accepted as published. The Commission was presented with a request from Police Sgt. Jeremy McGee to remove specific names from the eligibility lists for the Property/Evidence Room Technician Assistant and the Part-Time Records Clerk positions. In a document presented to the Commission, Sgt. McGee explained why the request is being made. Persons named in the document were required to comply with certain matters and they have not done so within the time given. These names are being requested to be removed from the eligibility list and additional names submitted. Commissioner Higham: So, each candidate signed a document agreeing to complete the form in the appropriate amount of time not to be taken off the list? Mr. Naso: Correct. Mr. Naso stated that he has no issues with granting this request and no one else did either. Mr. Naso: I make a motion to approve the request of Sgt. McGee of the Police Department to remove specific names from the Property/Evidence Room Technician Assistant and the Part-Time Records Clerk Eligibility Lists. Motion was seconded and passed. Mayor Kline stated that Sgt. McGee is the author of the letter that is sent to the candidates informing them that they have been removed from the appropriate eligibility list. Mr. Naso stated that the Commission would make that request of Sgt. McGee to notify those candidates. Mr. Naso mentioned making changes to the current test fee to a $20 application fee. The clerk informed me that it was never legislated and that it was done in a Civil Service meeting many years ago by motion. But when we make this change, it will be legislated. Commissioner Higham: Are we looking to change the $20 or just keep that saying this change the name? Mr. Naso: We can have that discussion at the time, but right now it’s twenty.
