MINUTES OF THE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING November 10, 2021 – 8:00 A.M. Members Present: Chairman Jan Naso Commissioner Christine Higham Commissioner Tom Kot Non-Members Director of Law Megan Raber Present: Fire Chief Mike Passarelli Director of Public Service Mike Rorar Jill Stritch, Human Resources ______________________________________________________________________________ The November 10, 2021 Civil Service Commission meeting was called to order. Minutes of the September 15 and October 20, 20201 meeting were approved as published. The exam for Part-Time/Full-Time General Laborer was given on November 3rd, eight people applied for this position, six took and passed the exam. Chairman Naso: I will make a motion to certify the Part-Time/Full-Time General Laborer Eligibility List. Motion was seconded and passed with no discussion. The complete list of six names and their applications were given to Mr. Rorar. Mrs. Stritch stated that two new full-time police officers, Collin Hefner and Jason Miller are being sworn in at Council on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. They were police officers for the City of Massillon. Mr. Rorar said that a letter was offered to Mike Weigand regarding the Assistant Service Director’s position and he accepted and will start Monday. He said that his position of Road Superintendent was posted last Friday. All letters of interest need to be in by Thursday, that’s the five days. Right now I have three; they are Wayne Corbett, the assistant and two operators from the union, Shane Nicely and Rodney Bailey. Mrs. Higham mentioned that she has two Records Clerks interviews right after this meeting. She told Mr. Rorar to let her know when he has his applicants and arrangements will be made for those interviews. Mr. Passarelli stated that he will be doing promotions for Battalion slots in the near future. He is waiting on negotiations to see where that goes.
