MINUTES OF THE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING March 30, 2022 – 8:00 A.M. Members Present: Chairman Jan Naso Commissioner Christine Higham Commissioner Tom Kot Non-Members Mayor Dave Kline Present: Police Chief Ron Williams Fire Chief Mike Passarelli Human Resources Administrator Jill Stritch ______________________________________________________________________________ The March 30, 2022 Civil Service Commission meeting was called to order. Minutes of the March 23, 2022 meeting were approved as published. Chairman Naso stated that the Police Captain’s Assessment Center was conducted on March 19th with three individuals. The assessors described the candidates as top-notch people. Mr. Naso made a motion to certify the Tallmadge Police Department Police Captain Eligibility List. Motion was seconded and passed with no discussion. The binder notebook from Ramsey & Associates containing comments and graphs of individual scores along with the eligibility list were given to Chief Williams. Mr. Naso explained to the Chief that the binder needs to be returned to Civil Service when he is through with it. The Mayor asked Mr. Naso if the same rule applied that nothing gets copied. Mr. Naso responded yes, and the Mayor said that he wanted that on the record. The Mayor mentioned that interviews for the position of Full-Time Technician were being conducted this week. Chairman Naso announced the date for the Fire Department’s Lieutenant promotional test. May 24th has been scheduled for the written test and there will be an assessment center after that. Chief Passarelli stated that he has already chosen the study material that he will be giving that list to Pat Ramsey for the Fire Lieutenant’s Test. Chief Williams stated that he conducted interviews with both candidates for the Full-Time Records Clerk position and that he will be having a conversation with the Mayor concerning that this morning. Page 2 March 30, 2022 Mr. Naso mentioned that there has been only one application received for the written exam for Assistant Road Superintendent scheduled April 5th and tomorrow at 12:00 noon is the deadline to file an application with Civil Service. Mr. Naso said that if he is the only one, there will not be a written test. We will give the application to Mr. Rorar to look at and if he chooses to interview this person, Mrs. Higham will sit in on the interview.
