1 City of Taunton 2022 Inaugural Ceremony Meeting Minutes Taunton High School Auditorium 50 Williams Street, Taunton, MA Minutes, January 3, 2022 at 6:00 O’clock P.M. ★ City of Taunton 2022 Inaugural Ceremony ★ REVISED ★A welcoming from John Cabral, Superintendent of Taunton Public Schools. ★The City Clerk called the meeting to order. ★Posting of the colors by the Taunton Fire Department and the Jr. ROTC Honor Guard. ★Colleen Ellis, the Clerk of Committees, escorted the City Officials to their seats. ★Brooklyn Toli, Miss Taunton 2022 sang “The Star Spangled Banner” song followed by reciting “The Pledge of Allegiance” . ★Pastor Matthew Thornton of Christ Community Church gave an invocation. ★The City Clerk introduced special guests Lieutenant Governor, Karyn Polito, Congressman Jake Auchincloss, District Attorney, Thomas Quinn, Sherrif Thomas Hodgson, Senator Marc Pacheco, Representative Carol Doherty and Representative Norman Orrall. ★Lieutenant Governor, Karyn Polito spoke and then swore in the Mayor, Shaunna L. O’Connell. ★The City Clerk introduced the Mayor, Shaunna L. O’Connell. Mayor O’Connell gave her Inaugural address. ★Rachel Correia from Christ Community Church sang the “Be One” song. ★The City Clerk swore in the following City Council Elected Officials: ★David Pottier ★John McCaul ★Barry Sanders ★Jeffrey Postell ★Phillip Duarte ★Estele Borges ★Christopher Coute ★Kelly Dooner ★Lawrence Quintal  2 ★The City Clerk swore in the following School Committees Elected Members. ★ Jordan H. F. Fiore ★ Christine Fagan ★ Gregory DeMelo ★ Steven Vieira ★ Louis Loura ★Derek George ★The City Clerk swore in the following TMLP Elected Commissioners ★Peter Corr ★The City Clerk swore in the following elected Planning Board members. ★ Dennis Ackerman ★ Robert Campbell ★ Michael Monteiro ★ Manuel Spencer ★The City Clerk swore in the following Elected Zoning Board members. ★ Dennis Ackerman ★ Steven Vieira ★ Craig Faria ★Councilor Pottier and Councilor McCaul pulled the choosing of the seats. ★Mayor O’Connell entertained a motion to appoint Matthew Costa as City Solicitor for the City of Taunton. Motion was made, and seconded. All councilors were in favor. The City Clerk then swore in Matthew Costa as City Solicitor. ★The City Clerk swore in Ed Correira as Chief of Staff for the Mayor’s Office. ★Pastor Matthew Thornton of Christ Community Church gave a benediction. ★The City Clerk announced the inaugural meeting to be adjourned.
