February 14, 2017 Registrar of Voters Board Meeting Attendees:  Carol Welch  Roger Hoffmann  Elizabeth Pottier Meeting was called to order at 5:00pm Meeting minutes for January 17, 2017 accepted; motion carried 3-0. Business vouchers approved and accepted; motion carried 3-0. Old Business 2017 Political Calendar At the January meeting, the Board voted to seek advice from the City Solicitor, for clarification about the time period from preliminary election to Election Day. The Board received the City Solicitor’s response in a letter dated January 18, 2017 that indicated the City of Taunton ROV could set the calendar as planned (see letter for specifics). The City Solicitor requests the Board submit the calendar to the Mayor and City Council for approval. The Board made a motion to submit the calendar to the Mayor and City Council, motion carried 3-0. January 17/2017 Political calendar 2017 discussed and a motion to table approval until the Chairman can discuss the City Charter with the City Solicitor. The Board’s concern involves political calendar dates vs. the Taunton City Charter. Pending this discussion, a change may be needed to the City Charter. The Board will discuss next steps in the event a change is needed at the next meeting New Business The March ROV agenda will include budget planning for FY18. The next meeting will be held March 14, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. The meeting adjourned at 5:35 p.m.
