Registrar of Voters Board Meeting Minutes Date and Time: Tuesday, August 13, 2019 Place: Temporary City Hall 141 Oak Street, Maxham School Registrar of Voters Office, Room #4 Taunton, MA 02780 Attendees:  Bill Tranter, Chairman  Carol Welch  Roger Hoffmann  Elizabeth Pottier Meeting was called to order at 5:00 pm Meeting minutes for May 14, 2019; motion to accept the minutes carried 3-0; motion to accept the minutes for June 11, 2019 required editing to include R. Hoffmann as present and not absent; motion carried 4-0 Vouchers reviewed and motion to approve carried 4-0. NEW BUSINESS o B. Tranter, Board Chairman, sent a resignation letter to the Mayor, effective August 30, 2019, for his position on the ROV Board OLD BUSINESS o Taunton City Council approved the ROV FY20 budget as presented o Nomination papers reviewed and certified by ROV department; one candidate did not provide enough signatures to be certified for the ballot; all others certified. List of those certified sent to the City Clerk’s office. o Death notices received annually from the Secretary of State’s office; notices reviewed and voters removed accordingly. Board discussed options to receive death notices more timely vs. once per year. The Secretary of State’s office provides the information annually. The Board would like the ROV office to receive notices monthly vs. annually. This would make the process more efficient vs. the office receiving it (usually in the fall) prior to the start of the election cycle. The Board will review options for the office to receive the notices more timely. The meeting adjourned at 5:45 pm Next meeting scheduled for September 17, 2019 at 5pm
