Golf Commission meeting May 20, 2020 ATTENDEES: Warren Offley, Chairperson Tom Clark Judy Chambers Tom Bernier Gil Alegi The meeting was called to order by Warren Offley, Chairperson at 6:40. Judy made a motion to accept the Minutes of the November 1, 2019 meeting as written, seconded by Tom Clark and unanimously voted. OLD BUSINESS: Discussion about the RFPs for 2020 and how we should proceed. Tom Bernier is going to set up a meeting with the legal firm and Judy to try to get some answers on the RFPs. We need to make sure all conditions are included in the RFPs so the bidders know what the requirements are. These requirements should have been registered. 0COMMUNICATIONS: Porta Potty Bill from United Site Services for December 2018, January , 2019, February 2019. Total 377.85 was given to Gill to call and get straightened out. He called and got nowhere. Tom Bernier called and spoke to a lady who is processing our dispute on the bill . Letter from Scott Castle , 181 Shores St., regarding fence. NEW BUSINES: Tom Bernier received three quotes for fencing. 1. $18,000; 2, $15,000 and 3, 13,610.The bid is for 380 feet of 6 foot chair link $7918. 250 feet of 4 foot chair link and a gate. This would replace the broken fence around the 8th hole by Scott Castle’s property and continue around to Fisher Street where the house was demolished. The gate would allow heavy equipment into the area when needed. A motion was made by Tom Clark and seconded by Warren that up to $15,000 be appropriated for the fence as long as the money was in the Golf account and unanimously voted. Tom Bernier and Judy will check into the money situation. GIL ALEGI: Gil reported that a check valve and flapper were needed to get the water pump operational. He has been having trouble finding the parts because of the age of the pump and the current conditions. $ 1,000 is needed for the replacement parts because the City owns the pump. Tom Clark made a motion to pay the $1,000 and Tom Bernier seconded the motion. It was unanimously voted. PUBLIC INPUT: None. NEXT MEETING: June 11, 2020 6:30 pm. GOLF COMMISSION PUBLIC MEETING NOTICE WHEN: May 20, 2020 WHERE: City Hall Council Chambers 141 Oak Street, Taunton TIME: 6:30 PM AGENDA OLD BUSINESS: Update on fence proposal and vote on and award contract to vendor. Update on the Porta john situation with United Services Continue talks about the RFP for the future. NEW BUSINESS: Discuss the future of the course and what route to take if things are delayed with RFP. Ask Gil what we can do to help with the current situation and ask if there are any changes that have to be made with the course and clubhouse. Chairs were donated to the course by a council member. We need to send an appropriate thank you for this kind donation.
