GOLF COMMISSION MEETING September 14, 2023 ATTENDEES: D. J. Martine Sam Delgardo Chris Coute Seth Turner Judy Chambers Ed Keys, operator Judy called the meeting to order at 6:30. OLD BUSINESS: none NEW BUSINESS: none ED KEYS: Ed explained how much he loved J. F. Parker Golf course and all the people associated with it. He hopes he can continue for many years as the operator. ED explained that he was influenced by the previous operator and assured the Commission that he would be compliant with the contract in the future. He has trained his staff to ensure that they follo0w the contract to a T. Some of the items mentioned were the financial report, course maintenance and improved line of communications. Also, credit cards are now accepted. Eds goal is to be sure that J. F. Parker Golf course is something that the residents of Taunton can be proud of. Ed further reported that the beehive pump which pumps water into the retention pond is malfunctioning. Hopefully in the electrical box. The pump is invaluable as this is how the course is watered. There is no backup pump, and it takes 4 months to receive one. The estimated cost of the pump is $8,000. Chris recommended this be put on next month’s agenda. There is a standing water issue and Bristol Mosquito Control might be able to help. ED will contact them. Ed heard that the City of Taunton might be able to put in an ATM machine. Chris offered to follow up on this item. The change would have to happen the same day. COMMUNICATIONS: Letter received from Paul Champagne, dated 9-6-23, regarding the POS system stating that the old POS system was removed by Gil Alegi and Keys Golf purchased a new system at the start of the season from Computer golf in 2021. PUBLIC INPUT: Eric Davis gave a presentation supporting Ed Keys and Keys Golf, basically stating what a great job was being done and Ed had never been under a contract before and this meeting should clear up any misunderstanding. NEXT MEETING: October 12,2023 at 6:30 in the Silver City Room at City Hall, Taunton Ma. MEETING ADJOURNED AT 7:00.
