Minutes for the December 20, 2023 Meeting
Present: Ted Gay, William Hanna, Jason Cross, Audrey Reese, Patricia Morris
Staff: Linda Coelho, Director
Friends of the Taunton Public Library President: Brian Belanger
Ms. Reese called the meeting to order at 1:05 p.m.
The October 2023 minutes were presented. Mr. Gay made a motion to accept. Dr. Hanna
seconded the motion and the Board approved.
The November 2023 financial report was reviewed. Mr. Gay made a motion to accept. Dr.
Hanna seconded the motion and the Board approved.
The November 2023 circulation report was reviewed. Dr. Hanna made a motion to accept. Mr.
Gay seconded the motion and the Board approved.
New Business:
This year the library will be closed Friday December 22nd through the 25th for the
Christmas holiday, and will close at noon Friday December 29th through Jan 1st for the
New Year holiday.
This year’s Lights On festivities at the library included cookie decorating and a meet with
characters event both sponsored by the Friends of the Taunton Public Library. The
Friends of the Library also hosted the Notable Blends for their holiday concert. Both
events were well attended with the Notable Blends having over 65 people.
Old Business:
Repointing of the front limestone of the building has begun. Parking can still be
somewhat challenging on busy days with the work areas being blocked off for safety and
equipment storage. Work is scheduled to be completed within the next few weeks.
The library is the proud winner of Taunton’s 2023 Downtown Scarecrow Contest in the
business division. Our Alice in Wonderland scarecrow received 772 votes via Facebook.
Friends’ Report: Book sales have been successful, and the Friends’ are looking forward to
hosting the Unlikely Strummers for a spring concert and Dr. William Hanna to discuss his new
book “Titiquet to the Sea” in March.

With no further business before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 1:20 p.m.
The next scheduled meeting will be held Wednesday, January 17, 2023

Unless otherwise posted monthly meetings of the Taunton Public Library Board of Trustees are held the
third Wednesday of every month except for July and August. Meetings begin at 1:00 p.m. and are held in
the lower level of the library, in the Trustees Room. These meetings are open to the public. The Taunton
Public Library does not discriminate on the basis of disability and upon request will provide reasonable
accommodations to ensure equal access to its programs, meetings, services and activities. Notification for
accommodations must be received at least 2 weeks in advance of all programs and activates and for some
