TENAFLY PUBLIC LIBRARY MINUTES OF THE BOARD MEETING February 11, 2019 The Board of Trustees of the Tenafly Public Library met on February 11, 2019, at 7:00 p.m. at the Library for its regular Board meeting. Board Members Present: Mayor Peter Rustin, President Kathleen Cook, Vice President Patrick Rouse, Secretary/Treasurer Martin Gilbert, Teresa Austin, Soon Juhng, and Elizabeth Warms. Absent: Mabel Allen, David DiGregorio Staff present: Library Director Julie Marallo. Citizen Present: Ms. Peng Avery The meeting was called to order at 7:01 p.m. Julie Marallo reported that notices of the meeting had been posted and sent to the media. Minutes Board members approved the Minutes of the regular Board meeting of January 14, 2019. Moved by: Soon Juhng. Seconded by: Elizabeth Warms. Unanimously approved. Treasurer’s Report Martin Gilbert reviewed with the Board the Library’s check register for January 2019. He noted that he had examined and approved the register and reported that it was current and accurate. A motion was made to approve the check register. Moved by: Soon Juhng.. Seconded by: Kathleen Cook. Unanimously approved. Correspondence None Director’s Report Ms. Marallo reported on the Friends meeting of January 28. Two new members joined and a celebration of the 125th Anniversary of the establishment of the Tenafly Library is planned. The roof has been repaired. The wireless network has been repaired and is now working properly. Staff and patrons are pleased to be able to have easy access to the wifi. President’s Report None New Business None Old Business Martin Gilbert distributed to Board members the form to be used for evaluating the performance of the library director. Report from the Mayor. The Teen Center computers are not working. Mayor Rustin mentioned that he has been visiting the library regularly in the afternoon and is pleased that the teens are well behaved. Report from the Superintendent’s Alternate None Closed Session The Board went into closed session at 7:16 p.m. to discuss union negotiations and a personnel matter. Moved by: Patrick Rouse. Seconded by: Soon Juhng. Unanimously approved. The Board returned to open session at 7:26 p.m. The union contract was reviewed and proposed changes discussed. The personnel issue was reviewed and a Rice Notice will be served to the interested parties prior to further meetings. Citizen’s Portion of the Meeting Tenafly resident Peng Avery of 230 Engle Street spoke about the library and getting involved.
