Director’s Report
Spartan Construction received the building supplies earlier than expected and work on the building
started on Thursday, March 10, 2022 with an expected completion time of about 5 weeks. Keith
Licata, the Project Manager from Collier Engineering & Design, Inc., informed Ms. Marallo that
the interior work will include opening the walls. This will involve removing the book shelves
from the walls and temporarily relocating the materials involved. Plastic sheeting will be put up
to minimize dust, but we do not know how much disruption of services there will be.
Herbert Stern, the artist presently exhibiting in the gallery, has been advised that his paintings will
have to be removed earlier than expected. Board member Elizabeth Warms has cancelled the jazz
concert scheduled in April, and a new date is being considered.
The Head of Maintenance, Joseph Rossi, has scheduled Suburban Glass to visit the library to
discuss what should be done with the windows.
The Board also discussed the condition of the ceiling tiles, and it was noted that the tiles in the
high slanted ceiling are no longer being manufactured.
Ms. Marallo will ask for a clarification of whose responsibility it is to paint the interior walls after
they are replaced.
President’s Report
Kathleen Cook was happy to finally be able to meet with the Board members in person. She
thanked Julie Marallo for making the virtual meetings possible and the Board members for their
dedication during these difficult times.
