TENAFLY PUBLIC LIBRARY MINUTES OF THE BOARD MEETING April 10, 2023 The Board of Trustees of the Tenafly Public Library met on April 10, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. at the Library for its regular Board meeting. Board Members Present: President Kathleen Cook, Secretary/Treasurer Martin Gilbert, Teresa Austin, Julie Lev, Nicole Motz and Elizabeth Warms. Absent: David DiGregorio, Soon Juhng. Staff Present: Library Director Julie Marallo and Administrative Assistant Ann Marie Connolly. The meeting was called to order at 7:01 p.m. Julie Marallo reported that notices of the meeting had been posted and sent to the media. Minutes Board members approved the Minutes of the regular Board meeting of March 13, 2023. Moved by: Elizabeth Warms. Seconded by: Teresa Austin. Unanimously approved. Treasurer’s Report Martin Gilbert reviewed with the Board the Library’s financial statements of March 2023. He noted that he had examined and approved the statements and reported that they were current and accurate. A motion was made to approve the financial reports. Moved by: Elizabeth Warms. Seconded by: Kathleen Cook. Unanimously approved. Correspondence A Tenafly patron made a $100 donation to the library in thanks for the kind and efficient help he received from our notary, Susan DiGirolamo. Director’s Report Ms. Marallo distributed a draft of a letter to Mayor Zinna and Council members regarding appropriating $250,000 from the library’s capital account to the Borough for the roof replacement project and an outline showing the roof areas in question. After discussion the following resolution was passed: BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED THAT: the Board of Trustees of the Free Public Library of the Borough of Tenafly, in the County of Bergen and State of New Jersey, hereby approves of the attached letter providing the provisions for payment not exceeding $250,000 to the Borough of Tenafly for the roof replacement project. Moved by: Kathleen Cook Seconded by: Teresa Austin Voting as follows: Teresa Austin - aye Julie Lev – aye Kathleen Cook – aye Nicole Motz – aye Martin Gilbert – nay Elizabeth Warms - aye President’s Report None Old Business After discussion, the Board updated committee members as follows: Building – Kathleen Cook, Martin Gilbert and Elizabeth Warms Sub Building Committee – Teresa Austin and Nicole Motz Personnel – Teresa Austin, Julie Lev and Soon Juhng Policy – Teresa Austin, Martin Gilbert and Nicole Motz Sub Policy Committee – Kathleen Cook New Business None Report from Mayor’s Alternate Nicole Motz spoke with Mayor Zinna previous to the meeting and relayed his message that he hoped to resolve the roof issue as soon as possible. Ms. Motz will report to the Mayor immediately after the meeting. Report from the Superintendent’s Alternate None Citizen’s Portion of Meeting None Any Other Business Julie Lev informed the Board that she took the two hour New Trustee course and will forward her certificate to Ms. Marallo when it is issued.
