Treasurer’s Report Martin Gilbert reviewed with the Board the Library’s financial statements of April 2023. He noted that he had examined and approved the statements and reported that they were current and accurate. A motion was made to approve the financial reports. Moved by: Elizabeth Warms. Seconded by: Soon Juhng. Unanimously approved. Correspondence None Director’s Report More than 100 patrons attended the Friends of the Library concert on Sunday April 16, 2023 featuring the contemporary pop group TreeOh! It was wonderful seeing a community of all ages enjoying themselves at the library. We are still receiving thank-yous from people who attended. Ms. Marallo thanked the Friends for the exceptional time and talent they continue to give to the Library. They have initiated bag sales, sponsored popular concerts, granted two $250 scholarships to high school students who volunteer at the library, provided a very enjoyable breakfast for the staff on April 26 to celebrate Library Workers Day and continue to provide funds to purchase the many museum passes the library offers. On April 23, 2023 the flat roof over the Picture Book room leaked and destroyed the whole area. Water came down the walls and ceiling, pouring through the light fixtures and destroying the carpet tiles which were so saturated that they lost their adhesive and buckled from the floor. Through our insurance, we are working with Resto Corporation to restore the Picture Book room and hopefully have it ready for the summer reading program activities. This roof was left out of the bid for new roofing because the borough engineer declared that it was in good condition. Pictures show that in an attempt to gain entry into the building, squirrels had broken through the roof and created a hole and that seams on the roof are beginning to separate, which will cause damage in the near future. The Board discussed the conditions of the roof over the Picture Book room. After a discussion a motion was made to request that the Mayor and Council expand the bid to replace the pitched roof and two flat roofs to also include the flat roof over the Picture Book room. Moved by: Teresa Austin. Seconded by: Martin Gilbert. Unanimously approved. President’s Report None New Business None Report from Mayor’s Alternate None Report from the Superintendent’s Alternate None Citizen’s Portion of Meeting None Any Other Business None Adjournment The meeting adjourned at 8:10 p.m. Moved by: Martin Gilbert. Seconded by Soon Juhng. Unanimously accepted. Respectfully submitted, Martin Gilbert Secretary/Treasurer The next regular meeting of the Library Board of Trustees will be on Monday, June 12, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. Approved: June 12, 2023
